Josef Gartner, LLC is the Russian representative office of Josef Gartner GmbH (Germany), which is a developer and manufacturer of technically complex facades and a leader in the market of facade systems in Europe, UK and US, founded more than 150 years ago in Bavaria.
The company specializes in creatively diverse design solutions for aluminum and steel enclosing structures. Each facade, designed by the company specialists, is unique. Gartner’s achievements are starkly illustrated by successfully implemented projects of world-famous buildings in many countries, such as BMW World in Munich, Taipei 101, Taiwan, Museum of Modern Art in New York, Apple Campus Cupertino, Bloomberg London and Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. Gartner offices are located in London, Chicago, Doha, Hong Kong, Macau, Shanghai, Basel, and in 2009 the company began operations in Russia, having opened its representative offices in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
In 2015, the company signed a contract for the glazing of the 462-meter tower of Lakhta Center, and even opened a plant nearby to organize its own assembly production.
Lakhta Center – is a recordholder for the area of the facade glazing, 85 percent of the entire outer surface of the building are made of glass. Each glass unit reaches a height of 4.2 meters, which is the height of one floor. This IGU weighs almost 740 kg. At the corners of the tower, special panels of even larger area were mounted, their weight reaching 900 kg. At the same time, 70 percent of the elements differ from each other in geometry and curvature, due to the complex shape of the skyscraper. Therefore, at the place of production the glass units were marked in a special way with the help of an electronic chip installed inside the panel, which ultimately made it possible to quickly and correctly assemble the facade, and in the future will provide an opportunity to identify any panel, for example, to order glass in case of possible damage during operation.
