Lakhta Center: Special Aspects of the Construction of Reinforced Concrete Structures of the Tower Floor Slabs
The article focuses on the key techniques used in the construction of Lakhta Center tower cast in-situ reinforced concrete floor slabs.
Cast in-situ reinforced concrete floors outside the building core built in removable and non-removable formwork are supported by metal beams of the load-bearing framework. Combined action of reinforced concrete slabs with metal floor beams is provided by stud bolts welded to the upper flanges of metal beams.
Cast in-situ reinforced concrete floors of the above-ground part of the tower are of two types:
• Made in stay-in-place formwork from steel profiled flooring
• Made in removable formwork.
A 60 mm high profiled sheet is used as a stay-in-place formwork with a total slab thickness of 150 mm.
Floors inside the core were made of B40 compressive strength concrete. Flooring structures use Class A500S reinforcement according to GOST R 52544-2006 with a maximum diameter of 16 mm.
Metal structures up to the 9th floor level were installed using high-capacity truck cranes. Structures above the 9th floor tower were installed only using cranes mounted on the top slab of the box foundation.
Installation was carried out simultaneously in several places, so safe working conditions were provided by developing projects of combined works with detailed instructions and diagrams describing works that can be performed at the same time and areas where they can be performed. An example of such a diagram is shown in Fig. 1.
The structural diagram of floor bearing metal structures representing a grid of main and secondary beams defined the technological order of installation.
