Superior Concrete
At the base of the Lakhta Center Tower - a supertall building for a weight of more than 670 thousand tonsin, which is undelain by a concrete pile box foundation - a unique structure that ensures the reliability and stability of the building. The deep-grid pile foundation of the tower consists of three plates: the subbase footing with a thickness of 3,600 mm and a volume of 19,624 m3 was casted non-stop for 49 hours from the mark of the bottom of the foundation pit on March 1, 2015. The main suppliers of concrete for pouring slabs were two companies – LujaBetomix and Beaton.
Work on such a significant object as Lakhta Center is a challenge for all participants and a very telling line in the portfolio of any company. The company LujaBetomix, the founders of which are the two largest Finnish concrete producers - Rudus and LujaBetoni, united to work on the Russian market, was no exception. The company is proud of all phases of work on this project and cite as an example one of the most well-organized construction projects.
LujaBetomix passed competitive selection as a supplier of concrete for the Lakhta Center project due to its specialization and precision of work. And the best example of a well-organized work of the company is the process of pouring the foundation slab that has entered the Guinness Book of Records.
According to Roman Bespalov, Director General of LujaBetomix, when pouring, the logistics had to be arranged in such a well-run way that the supply of concrete was uninterrupted, and at the same time it was important to prevent long downtime of in-transit mixers with ready-mixed concrete.
