Zhuhai Golden Bridge
Punctuated by four towers of varying size, Aedas’ new design for a mixed-use scheme in Zhuhai, China, uses a looping, layered path to connect the individual structures with a ‘three-dimensional, vertical landscape’. Creating a loop in the sky which symbolises integration, connection and communication, Hengqin CRCC Plaza features a signature sky bridge that links all four towers within the development and offers office, retail and leisure facilities as well as outdoor terraces.
The four towers include a headquarters office tower of China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC) and three leasable office buildings.
Orientation of the buildings takes full advantage of the site and surroundings. The two taller Grade-A office towers occupy the southeast and northeast corners of the site, standing at road intersections with better land values and views. The retail podium sits along the main road, and there are a central atrium plaza and an outdoor amphitheater. Extensive greening can be found in the northwest corner and together with the landscaped plaza and roof garden, it creates a three-dimensional vertical landscape for the future central business district.
The two tallest towers are found at the northeastern and southeastern end of the site, taking advantage of the site and surrounding context to create Grade-A office space. The two smaller towers sit in between these premium spaces, and the green loop lays at their top, acting as an occupiable green roof.
Containing retail spaces, outdoor terraces and leisure facilities, the ambitious 200,000+ square meter scheme hopes to be completed by 2022.
