Best Adornment of Ho Chi Minh City

Designed by Atkins and destined for Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, the smoothly curving form rises 160m into the skyline with a concept derived from the lotus flower. Designed for client Lavenue Investment Corporation, the lavish hotel will be an instantly recognizable figure in Ho Chi Minh City, with four petal-like facades that glide down the sides of the structure but never meet.

Included in the tower’s 66,000 sq m gross floor area will be a five-star Langham hotel, a mall with boutiquestyle retail units, serviced apartments and a sky bar. Ian Milne, Atkins’ senior design director in Hong Kong, said: “Our challenge was to design a tower with a grand entrance on a tightly constrained site. Our design delivers this, along with a generous public space and drop off area while achieving the best building shape to maximize the total gross floor area.”

Tri Quang Mai, Atkins’ chief representative in Vietnam, said: “The tower, once completed, will become one of the most important urban landmarks, which reflect the contemporary, vibrant and dynamic nature of Ho Chi Minh City.” Atkins’ service consists of concept design, schematic design, design development, tender documentation, a review of local architects’ design documentation and site review.
