Chemical Anchors for Aerated Concrete
The current pace of construction works and challenging requirements on thermal protection of buildings and structures call application of foam concrete*, which is hi-performance heat insulation, affordable and technologically advanced material.
Safety and durability of façade system is guaranteed by both fixing and base (wall) performance. The most massive inset wall elements currently used in buildings made of cast-in-situ reinforced concrete are small-sized blocks of aerated concrete of various grades. The most commonly used items are of B0.5-B2.5 grades. At the same time, the TsNIISK, NIIZhB and LenZNIIEP urge in their “Recommendations on application of foam concrete elements” (1992) to employ for self-bearing walls the foam concrete blocks of B2.5 grade at least.
This should ensure longevity and operational reliability of exterior walls for a period of not less than 50 years. Currently there’s a certain shortage in hi-performance foam concrete (B2.5 and above) over Russian construction market. Wide application of foam concrete below B2.5 grade for selfsupporting walls decreases reliability both of the walls and facade systems to be attached dramatically. The really hi-performance foam concrete is widely used as a base for fixing of curtain ventilated walling (CVW).
Since such constructions are getting even more demanded, the matter of reliability of facade fastening to foam concrete walls has become crucial. Consequently, the key point is reasonable selection of façade anchoring. Chemical anchors (CA) are used for fixing to foam concrete elements, as metal thrust anchors may cause destruction of the wall. Bolt.Ru offers industrial chemical anchors by renowned French company called Spit, a division of ITW multinational corporation.
Russian clients are still virtually unaware of such products. To select the best suitable composition of Spit products for facade anchoring to foam concrete walls the TsNIISK conducted test studies on tug resistance.
