Crescent in the Clouds

During the last decade happens the rapid development of Arabian architecture, while using the latest advances in science and industry - nowhere in the world one can find so many architects fantasies embodied in reality, both in the Emirate of Dubai. Combining the latest technologies and materials with the modern eastern construction scale it gives rise to the current architecture of the UAE – the richest hotels by the sea, grandiose developments and supertall buildings. There are often held competitions for architectural projects, which are then being put into practice. Here we are glad to bring to you attention the “Crescent Moon Tower” architectural design project that was entirely, from identifying the underlying concept to drafting the actual design and preparation of the project documentation, created and developed by the Transparent House team. The project was submitted for the 11th ThyssenKrupp Elevator Architecture Award and was highly regarded by the professionals and the public.

Symbol of Dubai
According to the conditions of the Architectural Design Idea Competition for the erection of a Tall Emblem Structure in Za’abeel Park in Dubai, UAE, the proposed structure should signify the new face of Dubai and promote tourism, recreational, scientific and cultural activities. Considering the stunning development of Dubai from a small city built around a trading port into one of the most prominent locations in the modern world, its proliferating economy, business, trade, and cultural life, our intent for the Tall Emblem Structure is that the proposed building should reflect both the historical roots of Dubai and its contemporary state and embody the unity of the two.

According to the intent, the idea of the origins is embedded in the shape of the building. It is a crescent which identifies Dubai as belonging to the Islamic world. On the other hand, the very fact that such a structure can be erected with the application of the state-of-the-art technologies is a manifestation of the modern level of technical and economic development of Dubai.
