Each brand has its own beautiful legend. Decon is no exception either. The name of this company is consonant with the name of Italian master Andrea Deconironni, who is said to have worked together with famous Rastrelli to create Annenhof Palace in Lefortovo Park, and fell in love with the unique beauty of Moscow churches and tower-chambers and took a trip to the Russian North to explore the skills of local architects. The Italian was deeply impressed by the wooden fortresses, which demonstrate amazing features of this natural material. Upon his return to Italy he built a wooden church, and in his sketches one could easily see traces of the Russian style...

The legend continued at the turn of the XX and XXI centuries when one of the leaders of the domestic construction market – Concern KROST – founded the company Decon which was engaged in the production of wooden windows, stained glass, mullion-transom structures and interior elements. The founders of this company were quite successful to achieve an effective combination of the best Russian traditions and European production practices. This symbiosis resulted in high-quality output fabricated by domestic manufacturers.

Creation of a powerful industrial complex with a high level of technical equipment brought the production of wooden structures on a fundamentally new level of perfection. The development of Decon kept pace with the time by all means, both in terms of the technologies and equipment used as well as in accordance with the needs of the construction market.

In the autumn of 2014 Decon has launched a new plant specialized in the production of wooden windows of the European standard. According to experts, its capacity allows it to become Europe’s major manufacturer of translucent structures made of glued laminated lumber. The company can produce 10 thousand sq. m. of window units per month.

Just a couple of decades ago the window was a fairly easy item to manufacture: the glass would be inserted into the wooden frame and fastened to it with putty. Shortly before winter the magazines and newspapers would be full of advice on how to insulate a win dow with the help of wet wool, old nylon stockings and things like these. The frosty patterns on the windows would inspire the authors of Christmas cards, but in the everyday life they would hardly cheer anyone else. Indeed, providing the space with natural light, the window is the most vulnerable part of the building in terms of heat loss.

It certainly must have good insulation, high strength and resistance to environmental hazards. And to the residents of bustling cities such a characteristic as soundproofing is of particular importance. Another important factor is how simple and convenient to use the window is. We have to mention that a wooden glazing unit of the European standard retains all the advantages of the natural material which are ecofriendliness and the ability to “breathe.”
