Queensland’s River Resort
Destination Brisbane Consortium’s design concept is one of two being considered for the integrated resort development in the Queen’s Wharf Brisbane district. The Consortium that comprises Echo Entertainment Group, Far East Consortium and Chow Tai Fook Enterprises and Cottee Parker Architects – lead designers of the core integrated resort – brings together a unique collaboration of international and local designers to merge sub-tropical lifestyle and world-class architecture.
Queen’s Wharf Brisbane presents a significant opportunity to create an integrated resort development in an integral part of the Brisbane city centre. The project will connect the South Bank, the CBD and Queen Street Mall by building a new pedestrian bridge and offering 1.2 km of open riverfront experience.
The design includes an elevated ‘sky deck’, inspired by the Queenslander architecture and designed to offer a 360-degree view of the river and the city. It also features premium hotel brands, including Ritz-Carlton and Rosewood, restaurants and cafes, function spaces and a rooftop moonlight cinema.
By reclaiming the city’s greatest natural asset, the riverfront will become a global attraction in its own right and a stage set for festivals and events. The proposal aims to celebrate the birthplace of Brisbane through adaptive reuse of all historical buildings and increase tourism by delivering 1.39 million additional overnight visitors each year.
