Carbon Fiber Skyscrapers
Skyscrapers of the future in some sense are a kind of cosmic space elevators. Their height continues to grow and the design becomes more and more original. In doing so these buildings won’t only be more seismically and winds resistant, but the most important thing – they will be absolutely safe for its inhabitants. One of the tools that allow achieving these effects are structural materials of CFRP (Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic).
The cosmic elevator, as it may seem at first glance, is quite a fantastic design. Cutting through the atmosphere, it will connect the Earth with an object in space, allowing you to deliver cargo to orbit without a negative impact on the planet ecology by burnt rocket fuel. But still the idea of such a lift, proposed by Russian scientist Tsiolkovsky in 1895, is not so far from realization. Already in the foreseeable future it will be possible to implement this project through a light and strong polymer composites based on carbon fibers and nanotubes. The unique properties of composite materials have been already successfully used. Incredible growth in world population that has reached seven billion people continues to increase, and puts forward new estimated requirements for urban development.
Here, the balance of advantage lies with skyscrapers, and chief amongst them - the improving of the urban fabric, freeing up space for parks and open landscapes. But that’s not all. In the near future in a single skyscraper you can concentrated housing, preschool and school establishments, medical services, sports and entertainment venues and many other facilities suggesting many hundreds of job positions of employment. No need to say that these multi-functional buildings not only considerably reduce the city traffic congestion, but also significantly minimize the need for people to move far beyond.
