International Finance Centre 1
Development building works began from the 1IFC. The erection of the skyscraper developed quickly and all works were finished by 1998; and the ceremonial opening was in 1999. A height of the 39-storey building is 210 meters; 18 high-speed passengers’ lifts are situated in 4 zones of the tower. The floor area is 72 850 m2. The 1IFC design resembles the building Goldman Sachs. The building accommodates about 5000 people simultaneously. The hugest holders are: ING Bank, Bain & Company, Moody’s Corporation, Fidelity International, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority and Financial Times (about 1000 m2).
International Finance Centre 2
The International Finance Centre 2 (2IFC), having a height of 420 m, is the second highest building in Hong Kong and yielded the palm to the International Commerce Centre (484 m). Both buildings make a symbolic Victoria Harbour gateway. The 2IFC takes the eighth place in the list of the highest office buildings in the world. The tower was erected in accordance with a project of the famous architecture Cesar Pelli. The erection was started in 1997 but it was put into operation only in 2003 due to a financial crisis. The presented project of the skyscraper had a simple but memorable design and mainly harmonized with the surrounding architecture of Hong Kong and perfectly combined with the east notion about the modern architecture.
