The Pearl of Old Hall Street
It might have been thought that the success of Beetham Tower on Old Hall Street could not have been rivalled, but Beetham Organization has unveiled West Tower; 140 m high office and residential more elegant building serves as the ‘jewel-in-the-crown’ of their Old Hall Street development.
Liverpool is a city and metropolitan borough of Merseyside, England, along the eastern side of the Mersey Estuary. It is known from the beginning of the XIII century and received city status in 1880. By the 18th century, trade from the West Indies, Ireland and mainland Europe coupled with close links with the Atlantic Slave Trade furthered the economic expansion of Liverpool. By the early 19th century, 40% of the world’s trade passed through Liverpool’s docks, contributing to Liverpool’s rise as a major city. In 1831 here was opened the Bank of Liverpool. In the future, the city continued its dynamic development, and was one of the major shipbuilding centers of the British Empire.
This is where was launched on the famous ship “Britannic”. (Superliner “Titanic”, attributed to Liverpool, was launched on in Belfast). In the 1960s Liverpool became one of the most popular youth culture centers. The most famous cultural phenomenon, born here, became The Beatles. Liverpool is enjoying a long awaited renaissance that equals the birth of the three Graces on the world famous waterfront. Having been selected as a European Capital of Culture and identified as a World Heritage Site, it has re-established itself as a world class city and it is therefore fitting that it should be adorned with such a chic building as West Tower, offering the very best in city living.
