Dubai-based construction technologies firm, Cazza, has announced plans to build the world’s first 3D printed skyscraper. Cazza is known for producing a 3D printing construction system that combines the use of mobile 3D printing robots with existing construction methods to make construction processes faster, more cost-effective, and environmentally friendly.

Compagnie de Phalsbourg (Paris) unveiled two competition winning projects by Studio Libeskind (New York) during the international property market MIPIM in Cannes, France recently. The sculpted Occitanie Tower will rise 150m above the Canal du Midi in the heart of the business sector of Toulouse. Set to be the first skyscraper in the city, the tower’s curvaceous form is interrupted by a spiral of greenery that rises from street level up to the 40th floor. The tower includes 11,000 sq m of office space, a Hilton hotel, up to 120 apartments, a restaurant with panoramic views, commercial space for shops, and offices on the ground floor for the railway company SNCF.
This March the Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council’s Planning and Land Use Committee (DLANC) reviewed plans for Olympic Tower - a skyline-altering development slated for the current home of the neighborhood’s most notorious car wash. These new twin towers called the Folkart Towers Izmir are 200 meters high and have 40 storeys. They became 3rd tallest building in Turkey and the tallest buildings in Turkey outside of the mega Istanbul city. Furthermore, once completed, they have become the 5th tallest twin towers in Europe!
The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) has certified the completion of Guangzhou CTF Finance Centre, located within the burgeoning Zhujiang New Town business district. At 530 metres it is the tallest building in Guangzhou, second tallest in China, and fifth tallest worldwide. According to the CTBUH the building was developed by New World Development Company and designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates (KPF), this supertall skyscraper rounds out a trio of Guangzhou’s tallest structures, including Guangzhou International Finance Center and Canton Tower, all centred around Huacheng Square, the city’s premier urban park and the central axis of Zhujiang New Town. Below, a subterranean retail concourse connects the mixed-use skyscraper with transport interchanges, directly integrating the project into the city and the wider Pearl River Delta region.
Real estate developers Jabavu Village Limited and White Lotus Projects are the names behind plans to build Nairobi’s tallest building, which will be the new home of the city’s third Hilton Hotel. The Sh11 billion (USD$109 million) dual-tower development, whose construction is set to begin in Nairobi’s Upper Hill, is scheduled to be completed by 2020.
