Recently have been announced the winners of the ninths 2014 eVolo Skyscraper Competition. The 2014 edition marks the ninth anniversary of the competition established in 2006 to recognize outstanding ideas for vertical living through the novel use of technology, materials, programs, aesthetics, and spatial organizations. Its purpose is to overhaul the narrow utilitarian challenges of tall buildings use, in pursuit to establish a dialogue about new architectural, economic, intellectual and environmental perspectives of multistorey complexes construction, revealing unusual structural concepts of architects, engineers and designers.

Last year in Zhengzhou, China, was put into operation a new hotel and business center built on the project of the American architectural bureau Skidmore Owings & Merrill (SOM ). Zhengzhou Greenland Plaza is located on a small peninsula at the edge of a man-made lake and is next to a performing arts center, a large convention center, and a park. Its cylindrical form is a nod to the city’s master plan, which calls for a series of arcs radiating out from the tower in the middle. “This tower is the centerpiece for a whole new city,” says Ross Wimer, the design director in SOM ’s Chicago office who was in charge of the project.

Last year in Singapore was built a genuine complex – PARKROYAL, drawing inspiration from a combination of landscaped bonsai arrangements that are modelled, chiseled and spliced to imitate natural landscapes and mountain rock formations as well as the contoured paddy fields of Asia.

In the very end of the last year in Jakarta was held a groundbreaking ceremony of Sequis Centre Tower to be Indonesia’s first LEED Platinum building. The Sequis Centre Tower paves a new direction for Jakarta’s future growth, not only redefining the CBD skyline, but also setting a new standard for sustainability within Indonesia’s burgeoning economy.

In last December was held the opening ceremony of the building located on the Pearl River’s north bank, the Guangzhou Circle, after three year’s construction, becoming a new landmark of Bai’etan with its unique golden-ring appearance. The Guangzhou Circle is the Headquarter of HongDa XingYe Group and the venue of GDPE Guangdong Plastic Exchange, the world largest stock exchange for raw plastic material with more then 40 billions euros of annual turn over. The building will be used for commerce with the functions of office, research, development and logistics. It will also house the world’s largest plastic raw material trade center.

Last December in Jakarta, Kuningan was held the groundbreaking ceremony of Pertamina Tower, which was attended by CEO of Pertamina Karen Agustiawan and management staffs of Rasuna Epicentrum. Pertamina Energy Tower as the representation of Pertamina’s transformation to become the World Class Energy Company is also expected to become the new landmark of the Capital and national pride.

The Upper West Side is a neighborhood in the borough of Manhattan, NYC, that lies between Central Park and the Hudson River, and between West 59th Street and West 116th Street.

Shanghai, is the city developed by the Huangpu River since the 10th Century, at the Yagtze River delta, is one among the first five of the World’s metropolis for extension and population. Considered as the financial and commercial capital city of the People’s Republic of China, Shanghai finds its business district in Pudong, an area which is built more or less of skyscrapers, located on the right bank of the Huangpu River.
