Danish design studio 3XN , in close collaboration with its Innovation Unit GXN , has unveiled its first building project in Mumbai: Grove Towers. The release of project details followed a colourful groundbreaking ceremony, or Bhumi Puja, hosted by client Ornate Spaces. During the ceremony, Mother Nature was asked for her permission to build upon the land and her blessings for all life involved in the project.

The Beijing Central Business District or Beijing CBD, centered on the Guomao area, is the primary area of finance, media, and business services in Beijing. It is a home to a variety of corporate regional headquarters, shopping precincts, and high-end housing. Beijing CBD occupies 3.99 sq. km of the Chaoyang District on the east side of the city. Geographically situated to the east of the city center, sandwiched between the 3rd Ring Road and the 4th Ring Road, the Beijing CBD is currently undergoing large-scale development.

Recently winning first place in a Skyscapers and Super Skyscapers Competition, SURE Architecture has put forth a daring new proposition for a London skyscraper design. Their proposal, titled “The Endless City in Height,” does away with the traditional notion of stacking floors on top of each other. This innovative building, whose authors rejected the idea of a traditional compound of floors interconnected by stairs or elevators. It is a totally different approach to address the issue, literally blurring the distinction between horizontal and vertical communication. The system of “vertical city” may become an alternative to a conventional design of skyscrapers.

Sixty-nine percent of voters have selected “yes” to begin construction on the Arquitectonica-designed SkyRise Miami. In the opinion of developers, for Miami it should be as landmark facility as Empire State Building for New York, Space Needle for Seattle or the Eiffel Tower for Paris. A proposal to bring a 1,000-foot (305-meter) skyscraper to downtown Miami was approved by South Florida voters amid hopes it will help re-invigorate Bayside Marketplace, sits on land leased from the city.

Skyscrapers are urban icons. In collective imagination, “skyscraper” means “city” because it is a solution that was invented to meet density issues in big cities. Authors of the Freshwater Factory project, presented to the eVolo Skyscraper Competition, has offered to change the vision of a skyscraper solely as an accessory of a big city. eVolo Competition not intended to practical implementation of the presented projects, they have no construction site, budget and so on. There is only a given topic. The Competition was created to accumulate creative ideas that may be claimed by the architects of the future, as well as for the discovery of young talents. The contestants in their projects are required to use the new technologies, materials and concepts. For the participants – it is an opportunity to express their fantasies in architecture, to experiment, to give new meaning to core common values...

The John Portman & Associates-designed Yinchuan Greenland Center, a 300-metre supertall mixed-use project, has been cited for Innovation in Building in the 2014 Be Inspired Awards. These awards recognise business and technical achievements, innovation and leadership in the field. The project, to be built in phases, is currently under construction in Yinchuan, China, with the north tower and the podium expected to be completed in 2017. The second tower completion is planned for 2019.

Zhengzhou City is the capital city of the Henan Province, and is the center for governmental, cultural, financial, scientific and educational activities of the entire region. Zhengdong New District is being developed within the Zhengzhou City to become a new center for business and commerce.

The Yuanzhi Pioneer Park, designed for competition by Georges Hung under RM JM-HK is a large mixeduse development that seeks to create a new civic centre in proximity to the existing CBD of Shenzhen. Yuenzhi Pioneer Park masterplan is an opportunity for the client and the city to present a strategy that is an embodiment of Shenzhen’s cultural heritage and its future as a world class metropolitan city. It weaves a strong identity of iconic towers, public green space with amenities and commercial functions to activate the use for the present, as well as anticipate the future.

One of the largest economic centers in India – a city with millions of inhabitants – Mumbai – rapidly changes its appearance. This is a bustling metropolis, where barracks and slums peacefully coexist with skyscrapers, and dumps – with elite shops and restaurants. All the tallest buildings of the country are also located there. These also include towers of the residential complex Imperial, shot up over the city skyline at 240 meters height. It was planned that next to them will stand 400-meter (1,312 feet), 116-storey super-high-rise residential skyscraper Imperial 3, created by the Chicago based architects Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill. But according to the AS+GG representatives, this project, despite it was the winner of the competition, still won’t be implemented.
